Linda May (Askins) French, 64, of Mechanicsburg , and formerly of Harrisburg , died at Holy Spirit Hospital on Saturday, February 23, 2013. She was born in Harrisburg, on Tuesday, May 4, 1948, daughter of the late Robert W. Askins and Francis J. (Hetrick) Askins.
Linda’s survivors include her loving son, Daniel “Dan” Ray French and his wife Brenda and their children Jade, Brianna and Julia of Mechanicsburg; one brother, Jay Askins of Enola; two nieces; and one nephew. Among those preceding Linda in death are three sons, James, Brian and David French; and one brother, Terry Askins.
Linda graduated from John Harris High School in Harrisburg. She was a founding and devout member of Harvest Church in New Kingstown. Linda was proud to have home schooled two of her three granddaughters, Jade and Brianna. She greatly enjoyed the time the two of them spent building exquisite dollhouses. Julia was Linda’s video game partner, a past time that made them both smile. Helping to raise her three grandchildren was a blessing for Linda and she loved being connected to her entire family. During her career days, Linda was a high-end house painter with Tiday Construction . Her painting even appeared in Architectural Digest . A woman of many talents and much love, she will be missed.
All are welcome to join Linda’s family at her gathering of family and friends on Saturday, March 2, 2013, from 9:30 until time of service at 10:00 at Harvest Church , 6950 Carlisle Pike, New Kingstown, PA 17072, with Pastor Fred Tiday officiating. Cremation was private and interment in Lind Memorial Cemetery in Lewistown will be at the family’s convenience.
