Linda Mae (Sheaffer) Stoner
Lived for her Family and Friends -
Linda Mae (Sheaffer) Stoner, age 77, of Mechanicsburg, passed away on Monday, June 27, 2022. Linda was born on Monday, July 10, 1944, in Carlisle to the late Mervin John Sheaffer and Mary Josephine (Sites) Sheaffer. In addition to her parents, Linda is preceded in death by her sister, Bonnie Sheaffer.
Linda’s survivors include her husband of 58 years, Larry Laverne Stoner; her daughter, Kathy Ann Lucas and her husband, Gregg, of Elizabethtown; her son, Jeffrey “Jeff” Michael Stoner and his wife, Jennifer, of Mechanicsburg; her five grandchildren: Jonathan Lucas, Abigail Gable, Madeline Lucas, Ethan Stoner, Benjamin Stoner; her brother, Larry Sheaffer of Dillsburg; her sister, Betty Wolf of Mechanicsburg; and several nieces and nephews.
Linda graduated from Cumberland Valley High School as part of the Class of 1962 and from Carlisle School of Nursing with a degree in Licensed Practical Nursing. She was an LPN at Carlisle Hospital for 7 years and ultimately retired from Susquehanna Valley Credit Union in 2000 after over 20 years of service working as a Member Services Manager. Linda was a member of Mechanicsburg Presbyterian Church in Mechanicsburg for over 15 years, where she served as a deacon and was a member of the welcoming committee.
Linda loved to travel. A cruise to Bermuda with her family was her favorite. Other traveling highlights were a trip to Italy and visiting the National Parks out west. While at her home in Ocean City, MD, Linda enjoyed the ocean and liked spending time at the beach. Linda lived for her grandchildren, family, and friends. She went to every event and activity that her grandchildren participated in. Linda cherished her family and was a loving wife and a devoted mother. Her children always felt loved. She will be deeply missed.
All are welcome to join Linda’s family at her gathering of family and friends on Saturday, July 9, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service beginning at 11:30 a.m. at Mechanicsburg Presbyterian Church, 300 East Simpson Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with the Reverend Kathryn Z. Johnston officiating. Linda’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at her church immediately following the service. Interment in Mechanicsburg Cemetery will be at the family’s convenience. The cremation was private.
