Lloyd Vernon Sheipe, 84, of Mechanicsburg , died at Messiah Village and surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, October 16, 2012. He was born in Orwigsburg, on Saturday, January 7, 1928, son of the late Harry Sheipe and Irma (Shoener) Sheipe. Lloyd was the widower of Betty Jane (Conrad) Sheipe who died on October 14, 1987 and he was the husband of Mary Jane (Adams) Sheipe whom he married on March 11, 1989.
Lloyd retired in 1989 from Naval Supply Depot in Mechanicsburg as an Equipment and Supply Specialist. He was a member of First Church of God in Mechanicsburg, Eureka Lodge #302 in Mechanicsburg, Tall Cedars #43 in Harrisburg, Scottish Rite in Harrisburg, American Legion in Mechanicsburg, and VFW in Dillsburg. Lloyd loved John Deere tractors and owned five of them which he used to mow his 3 ½ acres of grass, which he greatly enjoyed. He liked animals, dogs in particular. One of his favorite activities was eating and he never missed a chicken barbeque at Camp YoliJwa. Lloyd’s greatest passion was his grandchildren who always brought a smile to his face and a sparkle to his eye.
Lloyd’s survivors include his loving wife of 23 years, Mary Jane (Adams) Sheipe; his son, Scott Sheipe and his wife Susan of Newville; his three step-daughters, Barbara Lougee and her husband Bruce of Mechanicsburg, Katherine Cable and her husband David of Mechanicsburg, Janet Rudy and her husband Thomas of Dillsburg; eight grandchildren; and twelve great grandchildren. Among those preceding Lloyd in death are his brother, Quintin Sheipe; his two sisters, Katherine Smith and Infant Girl Sheipe.
All are welcome to join Lloyd’s family at his gathering of family and friends on Saturday, October 20, 2012, from 9:15 until time of Masonic Service at 9:30 at Myers–Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory , 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055. Lloyd’s funeral service will follow at 10:00 at First Church of God , 28 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055, with Pastors Richard L. Reese, Ronald R. Slabaugh and Dr. Charles Hostetter officiating. Lloyd’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at his church immediately following the funeral service and before the burial. Burial will immediately follow the reception in Rolling Green Memorial Park in Camp Hill, where military honors will be presented by the Cumberland County Honor Guard .
