Lois A. (Christlmeier) Hoffman
A Collector of Many Things -
Lois A. (Christlmeier) Hoffman, age 69, of Mechanicsburg, and formerly of Chambersburg and Altoona, passed away on Sunday, July 8, 2018, after an extended illness. Lois was born on Wednesday, July 27, 1948 in Altoona to the late Otto John Christlmeier and Pauline Ann (Hamberg) Christlmeier. Lois was the widow of Nelson H. Greene, whom she married in 1973 in Altoona, and who died in 1984.
Lois’s survivors include her husband, Paul R. Hoffman, whom she married on August 31, 1991 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Chambersburg; her three sisters: Marie Kelley of Blacksburg, VA, JoAnn Kyper of Altoona, Anita Kitting of Lancaster; her seven nieces and nephews; her seven great-nieces and nephews; as well as her husband’s children: Dean Hoffman and his wife, Paula, of Mechanicsburg, Penelope Anders and her husband, Frank, of Alpharetta, GA; and her two precious step-granddaughters: Hannah and Grace Hoffman of Mechanicsburg, who honored Lois by calling her, “Mama”.
Lois graduated from Bishop Guilfoyle High School and completed both the real estate and paralegal certification programs through the Pennsylvania State University. She retired from the Pennsylvania Board of Probation and Parole in Harrisburg, after 15 years of service working as a staff technician in the Case Analysis Unit. Lois was a lifelong Catholic and a member of Saint Katharine Drexel Church in Mechanicsburg. She was a former member of the Art Association of Harrisburg and the Mechanicsburg Art Association. Lois enjoyed drawing, watercolor painting, baking, cooking, and spending time with her family and beloved Irish Terrier, Molly. She was very caring and tried to be there for anyone who needed her. Lois will be remembered for her strong, resilient, and courageous spirit.
All are welcome to join Lois’s family at her viewing on Friday, July 13, 2018, from 1:00 p.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m. at Myers - Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Reverend Kenneth G. Smith officiating. Lois’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at Eckel’s Ice Cream Fountain, across the street from the funeral home, following the service. Burial in Calvary Cemetery in Altoona will be private and at the convenience of the family.
