Lois Jean Paxton

Lois Jean (Bates) Paxton, age 95, of Mechanicsburg, and formerly of Colonial Park, passed away on Saturday, September 23, 2023.  Lois was born on Monday, September 26, 1927, in New Cumberland to the late Charles Daniel Bates and Ella Leontine (Thomas) Bates.  Lois was the widow of Paul Leroy Paxton, whom she married on June 29, 1947, and who died on November 19, 2010.  In addition to her parents and husband, Lois is preceded in death by her three siblings: Charles D. Bates, Jr., Robert Bates, and Janet Ann Bates.

Lois’s survivors include her three children: Kathy Linn Lieb and husband, Alan, of Mechanicsburg, Steven Paul Paxton and wife, Amy, of Leola, and Ann Lauree Trott and husband, Linwood, of Selbyville, DE; her nine grandchildren; her thirteen great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Lois graduated from New Cumberland High School as part of the class of 1945.  She retired from Harrisburg Hospital in Harrisburg, after many years of service working as a pre admissions supervisor.  Lois was a longtime member of Brookfield Bible Church in Harrisburg.

All are welcome to join Lois’s family at her celebration of life open house and gathering of family and friends on Monday, October 2, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. with a time of remembrance at 2:00 p.m. at Buhrig’s Gathering Place, 25 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055, (717) 766-3421 (next to Buhrig Funeral & Cremation); with Reverend Blair Hall officiating.  Over 100 parking spaces are available; just look for the “Buhrig” parking signs in all of the parking lots.  Private burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Harrisburg.
