Never Bored -
Lois A. Witmer, age 76, of Harrisburg , and formerly of Mechanicsburg , died at Holy Spirit Hospital on Sunday, November 2, 2014. Lois was born on Sunday, March 13, 1938 in Mechanicsburg to the late Richard Stanley Witmer, Sr., and Irma (Stambaugh) Witmer.
Lois’ survivors include her two siblings: Nancy E. Dobbs and her husband, Jim, of Shippensburg, Richard “Dick” Witmer of Mechanicsburg; and her two nephews: James R. Dobbs IV, and his wife, Charlotte, and their daughter, Anna, of Carlisle, and Richard S. Dobbs and his wife, Amy, of Enola.
Lois graduated from Mechanicsburg High School as part of the class of 1956. She retired from Pomeroy’s Department Store in Harrisburg, after 38 years of service working in their credit department. Lois was a member of First United Methodist Church in Mechanicsburg. Among Lois’ many interests, her favorites were poetry, country music, cats, movies, and the Dallas Cowboys. She loved New York City and enjoyed her visits. Lois was a woman who would proudly tell you that she was never bored. She cherished her personal friendships with Skeeter Davis and Jean Shepard. Her admiration of Audie Murphy, the Cowboy’s star, led her to be active in his fan club. Lois lived a full and active life, and she will be missed by those who loved her.
All are welcome to join Lois’ family at her graveside service and burial on Thursday, November 6, 2014, beginning at 3:30 p.m. at Rolling Green Memorial Park , 1811 Carlisle Road, Camp Hill, PA 17011.
