Lottie (Gralock) Murphy, 101, of Carlisle , and formerly of Mechanicsburg and White Haven , died at Cumberland Crossings on Monday, August 27, 2012. She was born in Hudson, PA on Tuesday, June 27, 1911, daughter of the late George Gralock and Stella (Kulinski) Gralock. Lottie was the widow of Charles Samuel Murphy, Sr. whom she married on April 19, 1930 and who died on May 21, 1985.
Lottie was a member of Trindle Spring Lutheran Church in Mechanicsburg. She loved her church. Lottie was never happier than she was keeping a clean and tidy house. She was famous for her cleaning, cooking, quilting, needle working and canning. She was an all round fantastic mother and homemaker who loved to be busy, working. Lottie was an active member of the White Haven Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. She was a particular dresser and loved jewelry. Lottie was always “dolled” up.
Lottie’s survivors include her loving children, Betty J. Mayberry and her husband Richard of Mechanicsburg, Helen J. Reeder and her husband Charles “Ike” of Carlisle, Charles “Chuck” S. Murphy, Jr. and his wife Doris of Mechanicsburg; five grandsons; two granddaughters, eight great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Among those preceding Lottie in death are her daughter, Doris Gower; three brothers; and two sisters.
All are welcome to join Lottie’s family at her viewing on Thursday, August 30, 2012, from 9:00 until time of service at 10:00 at Myers–Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory , 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055, with Pastor Richard G. Lorenz officiating. A graveside service will follow at 2:00 at Laurel Cemetery , 402 Northumberland Street, White Haven, PA 18661.
