Louise Ann (Bauer) Garell-Shuey

Louise Ann (Bauer) Garell-Shuey, age 64, of Mechanicsburg , died at Bethany Village, surrounded by her loving family, on Wednesday, June 4, 2014. Louise was born on Sunday, January 29, 1950 in Bechtelsville to the late Gerald Bauer and Betty Rita (Miller) Bauer. Louise was the widow of Ronald Shuey and James Garell.
Louise’s survivors include her children: Jennifer Garell Penwell and her husband Stephen of Southport, CT, David James Garell and his wife Michelle of Lafayette Hill; her stepchildren: Amy Brida of Camp Hill, and Allen Shuey of AL; her siblings: Christine Hearn and her husband William of Boyertown, Barry Miller and his wife Susan of Bechtelsville; and several step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Louise graduated from Boyertown Area High School as part of the class of 1967 and from Millersville University in 1971. She retired from West Shore School District in January 2013 after 25 years of service working as an elementary school teacher at Fairview Elementary School . Louise was a member of Saint Peter Lutheran Church in Mechanicsburg. She loved to knit, read, and bake, but her true passion was teaching. Louise was a devoted and loving mother who was very involved in all of her children’s activities.
All are welcome to join Louise’s family at her Gathering of Family and Friends on Friday, June 13, 2014, from 12:00 p.m. until time of Memorial Service at 2:00 p.m. at Saint Peter Lutheran Church , 130 Nittany Drive, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Pastor Naomi Sease Carriker officiating. Louise’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at her church following the memorial service. Cremation and burial of her urn in Memorial Garden at Saint Peter Lutheran Church will be private and at the family’s convenience.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the Humane Society of Harrisburg , 7790 Grayson Road, Harrisburg, PA 17111; National Brain Tumor Society , 55 Chapel Street, Suite 200, Newton, MA 02458; and her church, Saint Peter Lutheran Church .
