Lucette “Luci” Marie (Spahr) Rizzutto

Loved the Water -

Lucette “Luci” Marie (Spahr) Rizzutto, age 70, of Mechanicsburg, passed away peacefully at Penn State Holy Spirit Hospital on Wednesday, December 23, 2020.  Luci was born on Thursday, May 4, 1950, in Mechanicsburg to the late Norman M. Spahr, Jr. and Naomi M. (Bistline) Spahr.  In addition to her parents, Luci is preceded in death by her brother, John Norman Spahr, her infant sister, Kathleen Spahr, and her dear aunt, Dorothy Swanger.

Luci’s survivors include her husband, Thomas “Tom” Rizzutto, whom she married on March 30, 1996; her two children: Dana (Ebersole) Budraitis and husband John and their son, Sullivan Jon of Harrisburg, Brian Ebersole and wife Amanda and their sons, Aiden and Westin of Mechanicsburg; her two stepchildren:  Steven Rizzutto and wife Christa of Mechanicsburg, Lisa Ann Falenski and husband Andy of Etters; her five step-grandchildren: Hannah, Maddy, Nick, Emma, and Reese; her two step-great-grandchildren: Dominick and Braydon; her beloved dog and two cats, Trooper, Semper, and Cammy.

Luci graduated from Mechanicsburg High School as part of the class of 1969.  She served as assistant director of the Boys & Girls Club of America in Harrisburg, and was fiercely proud of her work with the girls she met and cared for in the program.  Luci was a lifelong member of Mechanicsburg Presbyterian Church, where she served as a deacon for many years and found great joy in coordinating a Bible study group.  Luci’s favorite pastime was feeding the ducks every day in any weather.  Her passion was being near or in the water, enjoying a swim.  Some of Luci’s loves included Broadway musicals, Josh Groban, and World News Tonight with David Muir, which she never missed.  She was fond of traveling and checked off her bucket list a once-in-a-lifetime, two-week trip to Alaska with Dana and Brian.  Luci’s father built a cabin on Desert Lake in Ontario, Canada, which became a favorite spot where Luci and her family spent at least one week every summer.  Her family remembers Luci making tapioca pudding during every snowfall, and her blueberry peach pie was legendary.  Everyone who encountered Luci would hear her famous “angel” story about her beloved canine angel Trek, who once led Luci to a toddler who was lost in the bitter cold, and thanks to Trek’s persistence with Luci, they reunited the toddler with her family.  Now, you too, know Luci’s “angel” story.

All are welcome to join Luci’s family for her in-person visitation hour on Saturday, January 2, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Buhrig Funeral Home & Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; and for her virtual gathering of family and friends, visitation, and service via video chat or telephone beginning at 11:15 a.m.; with The Reverend Kathryn Z.
