Kind, Gentle, and Caring –

Madeline Amelia (Gilmore) Myers, age 86, of Carlisle, very quietly went to her home in heaven on Friday, April 3, 2020.  Madeline was born on Friday, April 7, 1933, in Wainfleet, Onatario, Canada to the late Mabel (Duff) Gilmore and Robert L. Gilmore.   In addition to her parents, Madeline is preceded in death by her two siblings, Robert Gilmore and Marion Wenger.

Madeline’s loving husband of 63 years, Levi Jesse Myers, says his beloved wife left this world behind a much better place with her six children: Douglas “Doug” G. Myers and wife Melissa of Boiling Springs, Julia “Julie” A. Byndas and husband Michael of New Kingstown, Patricia “Patty” Lynn Sayers and husband Mark of Carlisle, Deborah “Debbie” Lee Brydon and husband Rick of Middletown, Tamera “Tammy” Kay Clark and husband Robert of Camp Hill, Diana Ray Mattos and husband Frank of Manheim; her 18 grandchildren; her 21 great-grandchildren; her sister, Joan Warkentin and husband Rudy of Welland, Ontario, Canada; and many nieces and nephews.

Madeline attended Niagara Christian College.  She was a lifelong member of Brethren in Christ Church and taught Sunday school for many years.  At an early age, Madeline expressed her faith through singing in her family’s quartet, Wainfleet Gospel Four.  Madeline loved reading and collecting recipes.  Her family remembers her as the “best cook ever” who could turn the most meager ingredients into a wonderful meal.  Madeline was known by all to be a kind, gentle and caring person.  Mamaw to all of her grandchildren, Madeline especially loved babies and babysitting.  She had a wonderful sense of humor and a big heart.  Those who met Madeline loved her, and she will be greatly missed by all who loved her, especially Levi.

All are welcome to join Madeline’s family at her virtual gathering of family and friends and service via video chat on Thursday, April 9, 2020, from 1:15 p.m. until time of virtual viewing at 2:00 p.m. and time of service at 2:15 p.m. with Pastor Ross Ritchey officiating.  Private burial will be in Mechanicsburg Cemetery.  A public gathering will be announced once scheduled.

The family sends their most heartfelt thanks to everyone at Claremont Nursing and Rehabilitation Center who so lovingly cared for Madeline during her time there.
