Beloved Mother, Grandmother & Great Grandmother -
Magdalen Marie (Steck) Stumpf, age 93, of Mechanicsburg, and formerly of Scituate, MA, passed away on Thursday, June 2, 2022. Magdalen was born on Saturday, December 22, 1928, in Brooklyn, NY to the late Andrew Steck and Magdalen (Becht) Steck. Magdalen was the widow of John Joseph Stumpf, Jr., whom she married on February 7, 1948, and who died on May 8, 2010. In addition to her parents and husband, Magdalen is preceded in death by her son, John Andrew Stumpf, and her sister, Marion Murgola.
Magdalen’s survivors include her three daughters: Maryann Frances McNally of Mechanicsburg; Teresa Marie Stumpf of Kennebunk, ME; Kathleen “Kathy” Louise Conley and her husband, Kevin, of Leesburg, VA; her four grandchildren: Lisa Henry and her husband, Bryan; Eric McNally and his wife, Rina; Kevin Conley, Jr.; John Conley; her four great-grandchildren: Katy, Anna, Ava, Sophie; her brother, Edwin “Ed” Steck, and his wife, Joan, of Williston Park, NY; and several nieces and nephews.
Magdalen graduated from Bishop McDonnell High School in Brooklyn, NY. She was a homemaker and took great pride in her home and the duties that came along with it. Magdalen was a long time member of Saint Katharine Drexel Church in Mechanicsburg, where she was a member of the Rosary Group and enjoyed volunteering for various church activities. She was also a member of Delta Wings and loved to travel; her favorite destinations were Europe and New Zealand. In her free time, Magdalen enjoyed decorating, sewing and crafting; she also loved to play cards. Magdalen played Bridge in her younger years; and most recently enjoyed playing Hand and Foot with her Bent Creek neighbors. Above all else, her family meant the world to Magdalen. She loved spending time with her family and enjoyed family activities. Magdalen will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
All are welcome to join Magdalen’s family at her gathering of family and friends on Friday, June 10, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. with a Mass of Christian burial beginning at 11:00 a.m. all at Saint Katharine Drexel Church, 1 Peter Drive, Mechanicsburg, PA 17050; with Reverend Kenneth G. Smith celebrating. Friends and family are invited for a time of food and fellowship at Buhrig’s Gathering Place, 25 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055, (717) 766-3421 (next to Buhrig Funeral Home & Crematory), immediately following the Mass. Over 100 parking spaces are available; just look for the “Buhrig” parking signs in all of our parking lots. Burial will be on Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at 1:30 p.m. in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville.
The family sends their most heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff of Hospice of Central Pennsylvania and UPMC West Shore Hospital who so lovingly cared for Magdalen during her illness.
