Margaret Ellen (Kling) Matson, age 91, of Carlisle , and formerly of Enola , died on Thursday, June 19, 2014. Margaret was born on Sunday, October 8, 1922 in Harrisburg to the late Paul Kling and Mary (Dettling) Kling. Margaret was the widow of George C. Zeigler and Paul M. Matson. In addition to her parents and husbands, Margaret is preceded in death by her siblings, Paul Kling, Jr. and Laura Hanawalt.
Margaret’s survivors include her loving daughters: Mary (Zeigler) Barton of Enola, Sandra (Zeigler) Morris and her husband, Robert, of Mechanicsburg; her six grandchildren: Debra O’Donnell and her husband, Peter, Pamela Barton, Stephen Barton, David Barton and his fiancée, Barbara, Brenda Courtney and her husband, Andrew, Melanie Klein and her husband, Brett; her seven great-grandchildren: Sean O’Donnell and his wife, Kaitlin, and their son, Henry, Peter O’Donnell, Jr., Tyler Barton, Jenna Barton, Ethan Klein, Nicole Courtney, and Max Courtney.
Margaret was a long-time member of Enola First Church of God . She loved pets and volunteered many hours at the Helen O. Krause Animal Foundation . Margaret was an antiques enthusiast, who enjoyed collecting and selling her treasurers at various flea markets around the country, as she and her late husband traveled in their motor home. She was an avid crafter who loved carving dolls out of wood, including rabbits, witches, and Santa Clauses. She was skilled in tole painting, a form of folk painting on wood and tin. Margaret possessed an especially strong constitution and a feisty competitiveness.
Margaret’s cremation and service will be private and at the family’s convenience, with the service to be held at Enola First Church of God; Pastor George Jensen officiating. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Helen O. Krause Animal Foundation , P.O. Box 311, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055 or Enola First Church of God , 9 Sherwood Dr., Enola, PA 17025.
The family sends most heartfelt thanks to everyone in Heritage Harbor at Claremont Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Carlisle, who so lovingly cared for Margaret.
