Margaret “Marge” Patricia (Walacavage) Eakin

Margaret “Marge” Patricia (Walacavage) Eakin, age 71, of Carlisle, PA, passed peacefully with her husband and children by her side on Thursday, August 12, 2021. Marge was born on Monday, June 12, 1950 in Ashland to the late William Walacavage and Margaret (Sullivan) Walacavage. In addition to her parents, Marge is preceded in death by her brother, Walter Walacavage; and her sister, Dr. Yvonne Walacavage, DVM.

Marge’s survivors include her husband of 48 years, Larry Brooks Eakin; her four children: Keith Lawrence Eakin of Carlisle, Kristen Theresa Eakin-Spadea and husband, Jonathan Patrick, of Mechanicsburg, Larissa Ann Bower and husband, Mark Dewey, of Enola, Lauren Michelle Dunkle and husband, Jonathan Peter, of Camp Hill; her nine grandchildren: Kyla, Aithan, Liam, Lucas, Lilianna, Audrey, Emma, Brynnley and Rocco; her sister, Georgeanne Walacavage; nephews: Matthew and Ryan; and her beloved Newfoundland, Nova.

Marge graduated from North Schuylkill High School in 1968, and from Penn State University in 1972. She majored in Biological Health and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree of Science. She retired from the Department of Health and Welfare in Harrisburg, after 30 years working in the Certificate of Need Program. Marge was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Parish in Girardville, PA. Marge enjoyed over 30 years of crafting her famous rock oil lamps and various pieces of woodwork. She happily spent most weekends during the summer and fall months with her husband, Larry, traveling all over Pennsylvania and nearby states as vendors in craft shows. In addition to the love for her nine grandchildren, she also had a love for animals, notably horses and dogs.

All are welcome to join Marge’s family on Thursday, August 19, 2021, for her gathering of family and friends from 9:15 a.m. until 10:15 a.m., at Buhrig Funeral Home & Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; and for her Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at Church of the Good Shepherd, 3435 East Trindle Road, Camp Hill, PA 17011; with Reverend Neil S. Sullivan Celebrating. Interment will immediately follow at Rolling Green Cemetery in Camp Hill, PA. Honored to be urn bearers are her husband, Larry Eakin, and son, Keith Eakin.
