Beloved and Loving Mom, Gram and Memaw -
Marguerite Frances McGee, age 81, of Camp Hill , died peacefully at Cumberland Crossings on Tuesday, September 29, 2015. Marguerite was born on Tuesday, January 23, 1934 in Bridgewater, PA to the late Harry James McGee and Hazel Dean (Graham) McGee. In addition to her parents, Marguerite is preceded in death by her five children: Mike McLean, Chuck McLean, Larry McKay, Bonnie McKay, Dan McKay; her five siblings; and her beloved shih tzu of 18 years, Gizmo.
Marguerite’s survivors include her three children: Deborah Holibaugh of Mechanicsburg, Terry McKay and his wife, Brenda, of Carlisle, Barbara Long of Brooksville, FL; her seven grandchildren: Dena, Misty, Brian, Brandon, Sarah, Lauren, Emily; her 11 great-grandchildren: Ava, Lorenzo, Kenleigh, Emery, Maddox, Natalia, Carly, Jordan, Tyler, Nevaeh, Noah; and several nieces and nephews.
Marguerite was a baptized member of the United Methodist Church . She was a fan of soap operas and the Pittsburgh Steelers. Marguerite lived for holidays and being surrounded by her family. Holiday meal planning, even at Thanksgiving, would always lead her to ask what the family was going to have to eat. Cooking and love for her family went hand-in-hand, as Marguerite would prepare everyone’s favorites for their birthdays and special occasions. Her specialties were lasagna and chicken and noodles. Marguerite was also very good at reading people, particularly those who came in contact with her children and grandchildren. Her family meant everything to Marguerite. She genuinely loved being a mom, gram, and memaw, and she treasured time spent with her great-grandchildren. Marguerite’s family will dearly miss her and as much as they loved her, they can still hear her saying to them, “Love you more.”
All are welcome to join Marguerite’s family at her gathering of family and friends on Saturday, October 10, 2015, from 4:00 p.m. until time of service at 5:00 p.m. at Myers - Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory , 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Reverend Eric L. Funk officiating. Scattering will be private and at the family’s convenience. Marguerite’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at the family’s home following the service. Cremation was private.
The family sends their most heartfelt thanks to everyone at Cumberland Crossings who so lovingly cared for Marguerite during her stay.
