Marian (Anderson) DeWalt
Marian (Anderson) DeWalt, age 91, of Camp Hill, and formerly of Mechanicsburg, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Monday, January 10, 2022. Marian was born on Monday, November 17, 1930, in Mechanicsburg to the late Latimer Gerome Anderson and Verna Sibilla (Schaeffer) Anderson. In addition to her parents, Marian is preceded in death by her three brothers: Richard Anderson, Lorenzo Anderson, Leslie Anderson; and her two sisters, Alfreda (Anderson) Shultz and Victory (Anderson) Quigley.
Marian’s survivors include her loving husband of 71 years, Ray Ellis DeWalt; her two sons: David “Dave” Paul DeWalt of Havelock, NC; Eric Robert DeWalt and his wife, Paula Woodhall DeWalt, of Mechanicsburg; her two grandchildren: Zachary McPartland and his fiancé, Brittni Hippensteel, and Kayleigh DeWalt; and several nieces and nephews.
Marian graduated from Mechanicsburg High School as part of the class of 1948. She went on to work as a human resources secretary for The Bell of Pennsylvania until her retirement in 1960. Marian was a lifelong member of St. Mark Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mechanicsburg, where she sang in the choir. In her free time, you could hear Marian cheering on “her” Penn State football team or find her getting lost in a good mystery novel. All animals held a special place in her heart and most especially she loved cats, horses and dogs. Marian always kept things in good order and would organize and keep coupons and department store sale ads. Above all else, Marian loved and cherished her family.
All are welcome to join Marian’s family at her public viewing on Friday, January 14, 2022, from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at Buhrig Funeral Home & Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055. Marian’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at Buhrig’s Gathering Place (next to the funeral home) immediately following the public viewing.
