Marie Louise (Bower) Corbé, age 91, of Carlisle, PA, and formerly of Mechanicsburg, PA, passed away peacefully at Sarah A. Todd Memorial Home in Carlisle while being comforted by her family on Sunday, November 12, 2017.  Marie was born on Saturday, November 14, 1925 in Upper Paxton Township to the late William H. Bower and Annie Dora (Tobias) Bower.  In addition to her parents, Marie is preceded in death by her two sisters: Pauline Sheetz and Mildred Dreibelbis.

Marie’s survivors include her loving husband of 68 years, Hubert “Tony” Anthony Corbé, Jr.; her three daughters: Chris Carelli and her husband, Frank, of Mechanicsburg, PA, Nancy Knecht and her husband, Ray, of York Haven, PA, Jean Fowler and her husband, Robert, of Kingwood, TX; her many grandchildren; her great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Marie graduated from Millersburg Area High School as part of the class of 1943.  She retired from the Pennsylvania Division of the American Legion, after 20 years of service working as a clerk.  Marie was a long-time member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Shiremanstown, where she was a member of the card club.  She loved nature and flowers.  Marie would have flowers everywhere and knew all the different types of trees and flowers on her hikes with her daughters.  She enjoyed baking, sewing, and cutting designs into paper, often called Scherenchnitte.  Marie also delighted in traveling and visiting her favorite destination, the seashore.  She had a quiet and gentle demeanor, a brilliant mind, and quick sense of humor which may be why she was loved by everyone who met her.  Marie taught her daughters all there is to know about being a good people.  She will be dearly missed for her kind and loving spirit and remembered for always putting others first.

All are welcome to join Marie’s family at her gathering of family and friends on Thursday, November 16, 2017, from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, 44 West Main Street, Shiremanstown, PA 17011; with The Reverend Michael L. Seifried and The Reverend Sarah M. Keilholtz officiating.  Marie’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at her church immediately following the service.  Interment at the convenience of the family will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville.  Cremation was private.
