Marie A. (Farence) Rupp, age 93, of Mechanicsburg, passed away on Friday, October 14, 2016. Marie was born on Friday, February 23, 1923 in Mechanicsburg to the late Monroe Wilbur Farence and Ruth Beatrice (Simmons) Farence. Marie was the widow of Robert Glenn Rupp, whom she married in 1945, and who died on October 22, 2004. In addition to her parents and husband, Marie is preceded in death by her brother, M. Wilbur Farence.
Marie’s survivors include her two daughters: Linda A. Rupp of Mechanicsburg, Rhonda M. Bonser and her husband, Donald, of Tannersville, PA; her two grandchildren: Brooke Lazorchak and her husband, Michael, of Moscow, PA, Blake Bonser of West Pittston; her two great-granddaughters: Maci and Tori Lazorchak; her sister, Viola Burke of Milford, CT; and several nieces and nephews.
Marie graduated from Mechanicsburg Area High School as part of the class of 1941. She retired from the former Navy Ships Parts Control Center in Hampden Township, after many years of service working as a secretary. Marie was a lifelong member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Mechanicsburg. She was a charter member of the Mechanicsburg Art Club. Marie was a member and past matron of the former TRIO Chapter #544 and a current member of the Old Bellaire Chapter #375, both of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was also a member of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association (NARFE). Marie loved her family dearly; she was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
All are welcome to join Marie’s family at her gathering of family and friends on Tuesday, October 18, 2016, from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. at Myers - Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Reverend Hoshik Kang officiating. Burial will follow in Mechanicsburg Cemetery. Honored to be pallbearers are: Bud Bonser, Blake Bonser, and Mike Lazorchak.
