Marlene (Jean Pierre) Jeanty

Marlene (Jean Pierre) Jeanty, age 83, of Carlisle, PA, and formerly of Rochester, NY, and Haiti, died on Friday, November 22, 2024. Marlene was born on Wednesday, September 10, 1941, in Saint-Marc, Haiti to the late Marie Therese Cherubin. In addition to her mother, Marlene is preceded in death by her two brothers: Renan Cherubin, and Ernest Jean-Pierre. 

Marlene’s survivors include her husband of 53 years, Roger A. Jeanty; her two children: Kimberly J. VanSteenacker and husband, Ronald of Mechanicsburg, Roger A. Jeanty, Jr. of Arizona; four grandchildren: Zicora Green and husband, Ledahnein, Quianna Jeanty, Reginald Sosa-Jeanty, Neila Hamilton; her three siblings: Antoine Fresnel Jean-Pierre and wife, Marie Yolaine, Fritz Cherubin, Michel Franz Molaire and wife, Tulienne; and several nieces and nephews. 

Marlene moved to the United States in her early thirties, where she accomplished her dream of living a life of freedom and opportunity. With the help of her family, she worked hard as a nursing assistant to care for her family and purchase her beloved home in Hilton, NY. She could often be found tending to her flowers and vegetable garden, sewing, cooking, chatting with family or attending weekly Bible studies. Faith and obedience to the Lord instilled an ever-emanating wisdom to every individual in her life. 

Marlene will be remembered lovingly for her gentle smile, hard-earned laughs and her unique and charismatic charm. Her resilience, love and genuine passion for serving others leaves a legacy of love that will live on forever. Her beauty, light and countless memories reside in the hearts all blessed to have known her. 

All are welcome to join Marlene’s family at her viewing on Monday, December 2, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. at Buhrig Funeral & Cremation, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Pastor Noel Sanabria officiating. Marlene’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at Buhrig’s Gathering Place (next to the funeral home) immediately following the service.
