Marlin “Gene” Eugene Shelley Jr, age 88, of Mechanicsburg, died on Monday, April 8, 2024. The last couple of years he suffered from Lewy body dementia. Gene was born on Monday, May 6, 1935, in Blain, PA to the late Marlin Eugene Shelley and Esther (Naylor) Shelley. In addition to his parents, Gene is preceded in death by his former wives: Sue Carol (Coleman) Helm, Patricia Jean (Yoffee) Shelley; and his two sisters: Rosemary McCartney and Patricia Brooks.
Gene’s survivors include his wife of 17 years, Edith Arlene (Walker) Rudy Sgrignoli Shelley; his three children: Kimberly Lynn Shelley of Camp Hill, PA, Lorrie Jo (Shelley) Simmoneau and her husband, Jack, of Dillsburg, PA, Marlin Eugene Shelley III of Dillsburg; his five step-children; his two grandsons: Dustin Simmoneau and his wife, Lily, Rusty Simmoneau and his fiancé, Bree; his two great-grandchildren: Brendin Simmoneau, Charlee Ann Simmoneau; and his three siblings: Palmer Shelley, Melvin Shelley, and Carol Morrow.
Gene was the kind of man that would give his shirt off his back to help someone. He had the greatest sense of humor. He had a love of animals, especially English bulldogs. He will be dearly missed by those who were fortunate enough to have known him.
All are welcome to join Gene’s family at his graveside service beginning at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 18, 2024, all at Rolling Green Cemetery, 1811 Carlisle Road, Camp Hill, PA 17011; with Reverend Robert Bishard officiating. Burial will follow the service in Rolling Green Cemetery in Camp Hill, where military honors will be presented by the Cumberland County Honor Guard.
