Martha “Marti” Jane (Ritter) Tate

A Generous Woman -

Martha “Marti” Jane (Ritter) Tate, age 77, of Carlisle, and formerly of Camp Hill, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 1, 2020.  Marti was born on Monday, November 16, 1942, in Harrisburg to the late Ralph Miller Ritter and Sara Ann (Black) Ritter.  In addition to her parents, Marti is preceded in death by her sister, Lois Ann Rausch; and her niece, Lynn Dee Rausch.

Marti’s survivors include her two children: Dr. Wade Ritter Crum of Warren, Julie Ann Crum of Carlisle; her niece, Amy Rausch of Carlisle; her two nephews: John Rausch of Camp Hill, Greg Rausch of Carlisle; her two great nieces: Sara and Madison; and her beloved pets.

Marti graduated from Camp Hill High School as part of the class of 1960 and from Asbury College in 1964 with a Bachelor’s degree in Social Studies.  She retired from Polyclinic Hospital in Harrisburg, in 1982, after many years of service as a social worker.  Marti was a long-time member of Trinity United Methodist Church in New Kingston.  She loved her pets and had many over the years, including her favorite, Newfoundland retrievers. She was a fabulous cook who enjoyed entertaining family and friends.  Marti was a friend to all; people were not strangers, but friends that she hadn’t met yet.  She was a generous woman to her family and friends and they will miss her deeply.

Marti’s family will be celebrating her life privately.  Burial in Longsdorf Cemetery in New Kingstown will be at the family’s convenience.
