A Very Generous Person -

Martha “Marty” Jane (Stepp) Ort, age 75, of Steelton, passed away at home on Thursday, May 5, 2022.  Marty was born on Thursday, January 23, 1947, in Harrisburg to the late Paul Elwood Stepp and Esther Louise (Beistline) Stepp.  Marty was the widow of Clair William Ort, whom she married on May 10, 1969, and who died on December 16, 2021.  In addition to her parents and husband, Marty is preceded in death by her sister, Paula (Stepp) Miller, and her two brothers, William “Bill” Horner and Larry Horner.

Marty’s survivors include her sister, Grace Matlock and her husband, Ronald Keyton, of Harrisburg; her beloved canine companion, Lucy; and many nieces and nephews.  Although Clair and Marty had no children of their own, they are also survived by the children they helped riase: Aaron Stepp, Kelly (Stepp) Davis, Nelson Miller, Jenney Bernard and Mary McSweeney.

Marty graduated from Central Dauphin East High School as part of the class of 1965 and was a longtime member of Harrisburg First Seventh-Day Adventist Church.  She liked going to various craft shows, Christmas Tree Shops and enjoyed her arts and crafts; including painting ceramics.  Before Paula’s passing, Marty liked to go to the Dollar Store with her and hunt for deals.  Marty enjoyed sweets and doted on her pets.  She was a very generous person and would give others anything that they needed; she always seemed to have everything you might dream of.  Marty deeply loved all of “her children”, who she and Clair helped to raise, and will be greatly missed by many.

All are welcome to join Martha’s family at her viewing on Thursday, May 12, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at 10:00 a.m. at Buhrig Funeral Home & Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Pastor David R.
