Marvajean “Marvie” Ruth (Poffenberger) Ritter, age 82, of Mechanicsburg, was embraced by her Lord and Savior and was welcomed into heaven on Monday, December 31, 2018.  Marvie was born on Tuesday, January 28, 1936 in Hagerstown, MD to the late Woodrow Poffenberger and Ruth (Eccard) Price.

Marvie’s survivors include her loving and devoted husband of over 62 years, Robert “Bob” Harbaugh Ritter; her son, Timothy “Tim” John Ritter of Millersburg; her daughter, Tammy Ann Murray and her husband, Jay, of Mechanicsburg; and her three granddaughters: Bethany, Emily and Emma.

Marvie graduated from Hagerstown High School as part of the class of 1954.  She retired as a Senior Sales Representative from Rossmoyne Business Center Office of Liberty Mutual Insurance Company in Mechanicsburg, after more than 11 years of service.  Earlier in her life she worked at Pomeroy’s Department Store.  Marvie was a member of Saint Peter Lutheran Church in Mechanicsburg, where she was a proud member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church Women (ELCW).

Marvie will always be remembered as a person you could depend on, a loving and caring mother and grandmother, and a devoted wife to her husband of 62 years, Bob, who reflects that he always “liked everything about her.”  She was a beautiful, loving, kind and big hearted person!  She loved her Lord with all her heart and heaven has received a good and faithful servant.  Throughout her life, Marvie always helped others and served as a caregiver to all.  She lived Jesus’ message of love and selfless caring to her family, friends, neighbors, strangers and to the many customers that she served as a career sales professional.  She will be profoundly missed by all who knew and loved her.

All are welcome to join Marvie’s family at her viewing on Saturday, January 5, 2019, from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. with a service to begin at 10:30 a.m. at Saint Peter Lutheran Church, 130 Nittany Drive, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with The Reverend Alex Martini officiating.  Marvie’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at her church immediately following the service.  Graveside service and burial in Rest Haven Cemetery, 1601 Pennsylvania Avenue, Hagerstown, MD 21742, will take place on Monday, January 7, 2019 at 2:00 p.m.  Honored to be pallbearers are: Tim Ritter, Tammy Murray, Jay Murray, Bethany Murray, Emily Murray and Emma Ritter.
