Mary Elizabeth (DeMita) Brown, age 82, of Shiremanstown , died peacefully at home and surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, April 9, 2015. Mary was born on Thursday, March 23, 1933 in Winthrop, MA to the late Louis DeMita and Rose (Varallo) DeMita. Mary was the widow of Roy Joseph Brown, whom she married on June 18, 1952, and who died on September 17, 1994. In addition to her parents and husband, Mary is preceded in death by her brother, Ralph DeMita.
Mary’s survivors include her children: Roy Brown of Georgia, Joseph “Joe” Brown and his wife, Patricia “Trish” Kaefer, of Enola, Linda Marie Sharretts of Camp Hill, Brenda Troutman and her husband, Robert, of Philadelphia, William “Bill” Brown of Shiremanstown, Donna Rossi and her husband, “Jimmy,” of Georgia; her seven grandchildren; and her five great-grandchildren.
Mary wrote beautiful poetry and she loved to read. She was a flower and animal lover; and she especially liked cats. Mary was a fantastic swimmer who loved the ocean. She was known to be meticulous, a fantastic cook, and an NPR Radio listener. Her fun-loving nature was evident in Mary’s fondness for spending time with her family and watching scary movies. Mary’s family remembers her as very kind, loving, and “fun to hang out with.”
All are welcome to join Mary’s family at her graveside service and burial on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 from 3:00 to 3:30 p.m. at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville, PA; with Deacon Jack Paruso officiating. Mary’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at Farmer’s Wife Restaurant , 10609 Allentown Boulevard, Ono, PA 17077, immediately following the burial. Cremation was private.
