Mary Helen (Bell) Dean, age 75, of Mechanicsburg, passed away on Thursday, January 12, 2017 at Harrisburg Hospital.  Mary was born on Wednesday, August 20, 1941 in Philadelphia to the late John R. Bell and Mary C. Bell.  Mary was the widow of Alvin “Yardy” Dean.

Mary’s survivors include her companion, Bob Herman of Mechanicsburg; her four step-daughters: Lyndee Dean of Lower Paxton Township, Janis Dean of Lower Paxton Township, Jody Monreal and her husband, Carlos, of Laveen, AZ, Alicia Klaus of Steelton; her two grandsons: Zachary Klaus of Steelton, Cody Klaus of Mechanicsburg; and her granddaughter, Kaitlin Klaus of Glenmoore.

Mary was born and raised in Philadelphia where she graduated from Little Flower High School.  She graduated from Harrisburg Area Community College (HACC) and also attended Temple University.  She worked for the Fruehauf Corporation in Middletown, the United States Navy Depot in Mechanicsburg, and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, from which she retired.  She was a member of the VFW Post 7530 Ladies Auxiliary, Citizens Fire & Rescue Company #2 in Mechanicsburg, Harrisburg Polka Club, Bethany Village Swim Club and a lifetime member of the Harrisburg Bridge Club.  Mary loved to travel and her most recent trip was to Alaska, which she enjoyed immensely.  She was also an avid gardener and birdwatcher.

All are welcome to join Mary’s family at her memorial service on Saturday, February 18, 2017, beginning at 11:00 a.m.  at Citizens Fire and Rescue Company #2, 208 South York Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055.
