Mary Lou (Keller) Kerstetter, age 82, of Mechanicsburg died on Friday, December 29, 2023. Mary Lou was born on Sunday, September 14, 1941, in Hershey to the late Francis Anthony Keller and Mary Elizabeth (Ebersole) Keller. Mary Lou was the widow of Thomas “Tom” Amon Kerstetter III, whom she married on February 9, 1962, and who died on April 16, 2019. In addition to her parents and husband, Mary Lou is preceded in death by her two brothers: Gary Keller and Robert Keller.
Mary Lou’s survivors include her two daughters: Pamela Ann (Kerstetter) Crider and her husband, Michael, of Enola, Kimberly Anne (Kerstetter) Budde and her husband, Mikel, of Eldersburg, MD; her four grandchildren: Samantha Jo Mummert and her husband, Jared, Jennifer Marie Moore-Polo and her husband Keegan, Eli Thomas Budde, Erin Taylor Budde; her six great-grandchildren: Abigail, Annabelle, Benjamin, Ayleigh, Rosalie, Barrett; and her niece and nephew.
Mary Lou graduated from Hummelstown High School as part of the class of 1959 and from Harrisburg Institute of Medical Arts in 1961. She retired from the former Associated Cardiologists in Mechanicsburg and Harrisburg in 2003, after 13 years of service working as the Director of Human Resources. Mary Lou was a longtime member of Trindle Spring Lutheran Church in Mechanicsburg, where she sang in the choir, helped prepare meals on second Saturdays, and made Easter eggs. Mary Lou worked in the medical field her entire adult life, but she considered her most important job to be being a wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Mary Lou spent many years as a loving caregiver for Tom. She enjoyed breakfasts out, online word games, baking Christmas cookies, reading painting, and trips to the beach. Mary Lou and Tom always worked as partners, making family get togethers special and ensuring traditions were adhered to. Mary Lou will be dearly missed by those who were fortunate enough to have known her.
All are welcome to join Mary Lou’s family at her gathering of family and friends on Monday, January 15, 2024, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. with a service beginning at 11:45 a.m. all at Trindle Spring Lutheran Church, 14 State Road, Mechanicsburg, PA 17050; with Reverend Aaron Erdley officiating. Interment will follow the service at Trindle Spring Lutheran Church. Mary Lou’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at Trindle Spring Lutheran Church immediately following the interment. Honored to be urn bearers are Mary Lou’s grandchildren.
