An Amazing Mom -

Mary Catherine (Kerlin) Patrick, age 59, of Mechanicsburg, passed away on Thursday, October 28, 2021.  Mary was born on Wednesday, October 24, 1962, in Harrisburg to the late William Robert Kerlin, Jr. and Wilma Euphemia (Kester) Kerlin.  Mary was the widow of Michael “Mike” Eugene Patrick, Sr., whom she married on April 26, 1986, and who died on May 23, 1992.  In addition to her parents and husband, Mary is preceded in death by her two canine companions: Bear and Lacie.

Mary’s survivors include her son, Michael Eugene Patrick, Jr. of Mechanicsburg.

Mary graduated from Harrisburg High School as part of the class of 1980.   She retired from the PA State Unemployment Office in Harrisburg, after 35 years of service and after a short hiatus, she resumed working as an annuitant for the last year and a half.  Mary was a social member of Lisburn Community Fire Company in Mechanicsburg, where she volunteered at many of the company’s events.  She valued being a member of the fire company and was very proud of her son for serving the community as a firefighter.  Mary loved pandas and had collected many items from stuffed toy pandas to artwork depicting pandas.  She was known affectionately as the “crazy panda lady”.  Krispy Kreme donuts were a favorite of hers.  She also liked to go to yard sales, auctions and flea markets.  Mary was an amazing mom and a kind and generous woman.  It was not unusual for her to help anyone in need, including giving them the shirt off of her back.  Her family and friends will miss her greatly.

All are welcome to join Mary’s family at her in-person viewing on Saturday, November 6, 2021, from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 12:45 p.m. at Buhrig Funeral Home & Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; and her virtual gathering of family and friends and service via video chat or telephone beginning at 12:30 p.m.; with Celebrant Patti Vogl officiating.  Mary’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at Lisburn Community Fire Company, 1800 Main Street - Lisburn, Mechanicsburg, PA 17050 following the service.  Cremation was private.
