Mary “Mary Lou” Louella (Stahler) Rosendale

A Proud Mother and Grandmother -

Mary “Mary Lou” Louella (Stahler) Rosendale, age 90, of Mechanicsburg, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 23, 2019.  Mary Lou was born on Friday, August 10, 1928 in Highspire to the late Maurice Rodger Stahler and Ruth Lovada (Starner) Stahler.  She was the widow of Walter “Bud” George Rosendale, whom she married on March 22, 1947, and who died on May 26, 2013.  In addition to her parents and husband, Mary Lou is preceded in death by her four brothers, Maurice Stahler, James Stahler, Jay Stahler, Kenneth Stahler; and her sister, Shirley Shull.

Mary Lou’s survivors include her two sons: Bruce G. Rosendale and his wife, Patricia, of Carlisle, Wayne T. Rosendale and his wife, Patricia, of Dillsburg; her two grandchildren: Kristen L. Rosendale-Eppley and her husband, Nazareth, of Mechanicsburg, Ryan P. Rosendale and his fiancée, Meghan Hawk, of Spring Mills; and several nieces and nephews.

Mary Lou graduated from Highspire High School as part of the class of 1946, where she was an honor student, member of the basketball team and trumpet player in the high school band.  She was a former member of Silver Spring Presbyterian Church in Mechanicsburg.  Mary Lou retired as the office manager for Prudential Insurance Company in Harrisburg, after more than 25 years of service.  She loved to travel and spent her winters in Florida, where she loved combing the beach for treasures.  She was extremely musical and a very talented singer and dancer.  When at home relaxing, Mary Lou would watch Lawrence Welk, Antiques Roadshow and old westerns on television.  She enjoyed working with her hands and tending to her flower and vegetable gardens.  She enjoyed needlepoint, hardanger, knitting and playing cards.  Her family and friends will remember her as a good neighbor, who visited with them often.  Mary Lou enjoyed cooking for her family, especially preparing delicious holiday dinners.  She was well known for her raspberry pies. She was extremely proud of, in her words, “my wonderful family”.  Her granddaughter and grandson, whom she thoroughly enjoyed, brought her great joy.  Mary Lou’s family will miss her dearly and think of her often.

Mary Lou’s family will be remembering her life privately.  Private entombment in Rolling Green Cemetery in Camp Hill will be at the family’s convenience.

The family sends their most heartfelt thanks to the entire nursing staff of the Greenwood Neighborhood of Messiah Lifeways at Messiah Village, who so lovingly cared for Mary Lou during her illness.
