A Gentle Spirit -

Mary Helene Shover, age 63, of Carlisle passed away on Wednesday, May 2, 2018.  Mary was born on Monday, April 25, 1955 in Harrisburg to the late Charles Wellington Shover and Theresa Ann (Marr) Shover.  In addition to her parents, Mary is preceded in death by her sister, Margaret Von Nieda; and her brother-in-law, Ronald L. Houck, Sr.

Mary’s survivors include sister, Charlotte Houck of Hummelstown; her brother-in-law, Thomas J. Von Nieda, Sr.; her niece and nephews: Ronald L. Houck, Jr. and his wife, Michelle, Bethann Veach and her husband, Jobin, Sr., Thomas J. Von Nieda, Jr.; and her two great-nephews: Nathaniel A. Houck, Jobin Veach, Jr.

Mary was a kind and gentle spirit whose smile radiated  love for everyone.  She lived to eat and enjoyed dancing, playing games, receiving presents, and swinging outside.  Mary’s favorite prayer was “The Our Father”, which she often recited.  She loved watching the Lawrence Welk Show, singing, and listening to music.  Mary never let anything get her down and she remained physically strong, loving, and caring.

All are welcome to join Mary’s family at her graveside service  on Wednesday, May 9, 2018, at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Harrisburg; with Reverend Kenneth G. Smith officiating.
