Small but Mighty -

Mary “Jane” (Varner) Wagner, age 79, of Mechanicsburg, passed away at home on Saturday, March 27, 2021.  Mary was born on Tuesday, July 22, 1941, in Shippensburg to the late Melvin H. Varner and Ruth E. Baer Varner. In addition to her parents, Mary is preceded in death by her siblings: Melvin “Pete” Varner, David W. Varner, Roy D. Varner, Earl H. Varner, Janet L. Miller, and Patsy R. Coy.

Jane’s survivors include her three children: Rodney W. Wagner and wife, Amanda, of Gardners, Sherry A. Carter of Caldwell, TX, Cindy L. Wagner of Caldwell, TX; her five grandchildren: Jeffrey L. Cole and significant other, Erna Bagdasaryan, Jennifer L. Cole, Madeline Wagner, Megan Wagner, Sadie Wagner; her two great-grandchildren: Addisyn J. Cole, Jeffrey L. Cole Jr.; her brother Glenn C. Varner; and several nieces and nephews.

Jane graduated from Shippensburg High School. She retired from the Navy Depot in October of 2014, after working as a budget analyst.  Jane was an avid bowler and card player.  She played Pinochle and belonged to numerous card clubs. She enjoyed playing the slot machines at Hollywood Casino. Mary took a lot of pride and pleasure working on her landscaping.  Jane was meticulous when it came to her yard work and she especially loved her hyacinths.  She also loved her dog Daisy Mae. Jane loved to make family gatherings special. During holidays, birthdays and special family events everyone looked forward to her barbeque and fruit salad.  Her family will remember her as good mother: very loving and supportive; always by their side.

All are welcome to join Mary’s family at her viewing on Monday, April 5, 2021, from 1:00 p.m. until time of service at 2:15 p.m. at Buhrig Funeral Home & Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Pastor Aaron M. Erdley officiating.  Mary’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at Buhrig’s Gathering Place (next to the funeral home) immediately following the service.
