Mary Alice Elizabeth Kirk, age 72, of Mechanicsburg , and formerly of Harrisburg , died peacefully at home and surrounded by her loving family on Monday, July 21, 2014. Mary Alice was born on Monday, January 5, 1942 in Harrisburg to the late Robert Lincoln Kirk, Jr., and Charlotte Elizabeth (Fetrow) Kirk.
Mary Alice’s survivors include her loving son, Robert “Bobby” Lincoln Kirk, III, and his wife Cathy of Mechanicsburg; her beloved sister: Barbara Faranov of Mechanicsburg; her three grandchildren: Luke, Amber, and Brittnie; her nine great-grandchildren; and her nephew: Peter “Pete” Faranov.
Mary Alice graduated from William Penn High School as part of the class of 1961. She attended Bible Baptist Church in Shiremanstown for the past ten years and prior to that she enjoyed singing in her church choir in Harrisburg. She enjoyed baking, crafts, and camping. Mary Alice worked at many local businesses over the years. You might remember Mary Alice from: Seidle Hospital, Holy Spirit Hospital, Messiah Village, Pomeroy’s Department Store, The Brotherhood, her son’s restaurant, the former Kirk’s Kafe in Mechanicsburg, or from her years babysitting. She was a strong woman with an equally strong work ethic who always enjoyed doing fun things. A true “people person”, Mary Alice found her greatest joy in gathering with her family and friends for any and all occasions.
All are welcome to join Mary Alice’s family at her viewing on Tuesday, July 29, 2014, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and at her funeral service at 12:45 p.m. at Bible Baptist Church , 201 West Main Street, Shiremanstown, PA 17011; with Pastor Ron Berrus officiating. Burial will be private and will immediately follow the funeral service in Rolling Green Memorial Park in Camp Hill. Mary Alice’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food, fellowship, and celebration at her church beginning at 2:00 p.m. with the family joining the gathering following the private burial.
The family asks that flowers not be sent but instead they suggest memorial contributions to either, Bible Baptist Church , 201 West Main Street, Shiremanstown, PA 17011, or Grane Hospice , 4 Lemoyne Drive, Suite 201, Lemoyne, PA 17043.
