Mary Ann (Felker) Herron

Loved Her Family and Her Job -

Mary Ann (Felker) Herron, age 80, of Mechanicsburg, passed away at Carolyn’s House on Tuesday, April 19, 2016.  Mary Ann was born on Sunday, March 1, 1936, in Harrisburg to the late Harry W. Felker and Anna Mae (Orsinger) Felker.  In addition to her parents, Mary Ann is preceded in death by her two daughters: Robin Marie Wright, Cathy Ann Herron; and her three siblings: Doris Felker, Patricia Gorse, and Albert “Butch” Felker.

Mary Ann’s survivors include her loving husband of 60 years, Frank “Spark” Joseph Herron; her two daughters: Terry Miduri of Camp Hill, Debbie Gardner and her husband, Merv, of Harrisburg; her seven grandchildren; her fourteen great-grandchildren; her two great-great-grandchildren; her three siblings: Harry Felker, Robert Felker and his wife, Grace, and Nancy Smith, all of Harrisburg; and several nieces and nephews.

Mary Ann retired from Giant Food Stores in Silver Spring Township in 2015, after 18 years of service working as a cashier.  Mary Ann loved her job so much that she wanted to go back after retirement.  When she got sick, the most difficult thing for Mary Ann was being unable to go to work to visit with her customers and co-workers.  She was a member of the Lower Allen VFW Post 7530, American Legion Post #109 in Mechanicsburg, and the Enola Sportsman Club.  In her leisure time, Mary Ann loved to go the casino and visit Atlantic City.  She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and going to the beach with them.  Although people said, “This ain’t never gonna work,” Mary Ann and Spark proudly proved them wrong with 60 wonderful years of marriage.

All are welcome to join Mary Ann’s family at her celebration of life on Sunday, May 15, 2016 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the Lower Allen VFW Post 7530, 4545 Westport Drive, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055.  Cremation was private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in celebration of Mary Ann’s life can be made to HCP, 1320 Linglestown Road, Harrisburg, PA 17110; www.HospiceOfCentralPA.org.
