Mary Jane (Batdorf) Boyer
Always There for Her Family -
Mary Jane (Batdorf) Boyer, age 89, of Camp Hill, and formerly of Mechanicsburg, went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, January 7, 2021. Mary Jane was born on Sunday, March 8, 1931, in Williamstown, PA to the late Alvin Leroy Batdorf and Margaret Elizabeth (Warlow) Batdorf. Mary Jane was the widow of Theodore “Ted” Stanley Boyer, Jr., whom she married on December 16, 1950, and who died on July 27, 1989. In addition to her parents and husband, Mary Jane is preceded in death by her brother, George Batdorf.
Mary Jane’s survivors include her three children: Robert “Bob” Boyer and companion Elnora Miley of Biglerville, PA, Donna Brett and companion Ted Olson of Orlando, FL, Kathy Sharp and husband Burton of Mechanicsburg; her four grandchildren: Christopher Brett, Timothy Brett, Dylan Schoppy, Skyler Schoppy; her six great-grandchildren: Ryder Brett, Emry Brett, Fiona Brett, Aubrey Bocek, Abel Schoppy, and Sylas Schoppy.
Mary Jane graduated from Williamstown High School as part of the class of 1949. She retired as a bookkeeper from the accounting department at Book-of-the-Month-Club in Mechanicsburg in the early 1990s. Mary Jane was a lifelong member of Shepherdstown United Methodist Church in Mechanicsburg. She was a former member of the American Legion Post 109. Mary Jane was a devout Bingo player. She also enjoyed crocheting, taking care of her yard and flower garden, and eating out. For years, she dined at the Lemoyne Family Restaurant every day. Mary Jane liked being at home and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was always there for her family, and they will miss Mary Jane dearly.
All are welcome to join Mary Jane’s family at her in-person viewing beginning at 10:15 a.m. and funeral service beginning at 11:45 a.m. at Buhrig Funeral Home & Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; or at her virtual gathering of family and friends, virtual viewing and service via video chat or telephone beginning at 11:25 a.m. on Tuesday, January 12, 2021; with Reverend Eugene A. Liddick officiating. Mary Jane’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at Buhrig’s Gathering Place (next to the funeral home) immediately following the service. Mary Jane’s graveside service and burial will follow the reception in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Harrisburg, PA.
