Lived Life to the Fullest -

Matthew “Matt” Lawrence Giles, age 37, of Mechanicsburg, was embraced by his family in Heaven on Thursday, November 28, 2019.  Matt was born on Thursday, August 19, 1982 in Harrisburg to Ronnie “Ron” Giles and Rebecca “Becky” J. (Eakin) Giles.  He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Russell and Margaret Eakin.

Matt’s survivors include his fiancée, Brittany Banzhoff; his parents, Ron and Becky Giles of Carlisle; his brother, Cody Giles of Carlisle; his paternal grandparents, Alma Murray and her husband, Lew, of Mechanicsburg; his beloved feline companion, Mr. Whiskers; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Matt attended Cumberland Valley High School.  He worked as an independent contractor in the construction industry and was a member of The Mechanicsburg Club.  Matt enjoyed being outside surrounded by nature especially when he was out fishing or spending time on the beach.  He was a very social and outgoing person who loved hanging out with his friends and family.  Matt never met a stranger; he cared so much for others and would help anyone in need.  He was extremely kind and generous, often sharing hugs as a way to exemplify his compassion.  Matt truly enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest.  He never let anything stop or slow him down.  Matt had a tremendous amount of energy and was always moving.  His zest and enthusiasm will be strongly missed by all those that had the opportunity to know Matt.

All are welcome to join Matt’s family at his viewing on Friday, December 6, 2019, from 4:30 p.m. until time of remembrance at 7:00 p.m. at Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Celebrant George Spangler officiating.  Matt’s family invites everyone to join them for a dutch treat celebration of life reception at Johnny Joe’s Sports Bar and Grill, 5327 East Trindle Road, Mechanicsburg, PA 17050, immediately after the service.  Cremation will follow the viewing and service.  Interment in Mechanicsburg Cemetery will be private and at the convenience of the family.
