Matthew “Matt” Steven Sattazahn
Devoted Father, Courageous and Filled with Grace -
In the sure and certain hope of Resurrection in Jesus Christ; Matthew Steven Sattazahn, age 40, of Mechanicsburg , died at home and with his loving wife by his side on Friday, May 1, 2015, and is now raised with Christ in glory. Matt was born on Thursday, August 22, 1974 in Camp Hill, son of Steven Richard Sattazahn and Bertha Louise (Boose) Sattazahn, who both survive him. Matt is preceded in glory by his maternal grandparents, Charles and Mabel Boose; and his paternal grandparents, Clarence and Marian Sattazahn.
Matt’s survivors include his loving wife of almost 17 years, Sondra (Guillen) Sattazahn; his children: Alexander “Alex” Sattazahn and Kathryn “Kate” Sattazahn; his sister, Emily Butler; his brother, Brent Sattazahn of Mechanicsburg; and his nieces, Hannah and Rachel Butler.
Matt graduated from Cumberland Valley High School as part of the class of 1992; and in 1997, he graduated from Pennsylvania State University , where he met his wife. Matt earned his Master’s Degree online in 2012 through University of Maryland University College , a testament to the courage and grace he exhibited while battling colon cancer. He worked at Unilife Medical Solutions in York as an IT Manager. Matt was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Mechanicsburg, where he assisted his wife in all her volunteer activities. Most of all, Matt was a devoted father who especially enjoyed spending time with his children.
All are welcome to join Matt’s family at his viewing on Thursday, May 14, 2015, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Myers - Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory , 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; and at his funeral service on Saturday, May 16, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. at Aldersgate United Methodist Church , 1480 Jerusalem Road, Mechanicsburg, PA 17050; with Reverend Troy Howell officiating. Matt’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at his church immediately following the funeral service. Burial will follow the reception in Chestnut Hill Cemetery in Mechanicsburg.
The family sends their most heartfelt thanks to their family and friends and everyone at Aldersgate United Methodist Church who so lovingly supported them during Matt’s illness.
