CMDR Max David Marbain , USN (Ret.)
CMDR Max David Marbain, USN (Ret.) died on Monday, September 9, 2013 after a long battle with cancer. He was 77.
He was born to Angelyn and Max Marbain in Danby, Missouri, where he grew up and was graduated from Festus High School in Festus, Missouri. Max was a graduate of the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis, Class of 1958, where he lettered in varsity crew. He received a Master of Business Administration from Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
His naval career encompassed tours of duty in Georgia, California, Hawaii, Florida, the Philippines and Washington, D.C., where he served on the staff of the White House under President Lyndon B. Johnson. He often accompanied the President to the Texas White House and Camp David. He later served aboard the USS Forrestal. He also served in Vietnam.
Max was a land developer in Central Pennsylvania for more than thirty years. His designs and innovative floor plans were featured in national industry publications. Max received numerous awards and recognition throughout his career. Having built more than a thousand homes, Marbain Associates continues to be at the forefront of residential development.
He is survived by his wife Jessica, to whom he was married for 27 years, four children and five grandchildren. He will be missed by his loyal employees, his many associates and friends.
In lieu of flowers, it was Max’s wish that donations be made to Paralyzed Veterans of America, the Humane Society of Harrisburg or Susquehanna Service Dogs.
Friends are encouraged to visit at his home in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, on Friday, September 13th from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with military honors being presented by the Cumberland County Honor Guard at 6:30 p.m.
