Maye (Mason) Carmany, 90, of Mechanicsburg , died at ManorCare Health Services in Carlisle, on Friday, February 22, 2013. She was born in DeWitt, AR, on Tuesday, January 30, 1923, daughter of the late William C. Mason and Marie C. (Davis) Mason. Maye was the widow of Boyd L. Carmany, to whom she was married for 58 years, and who died on November 12, 2001.
Maye’s survivors include her two sons, John Boyd Carmany of Lake Orion, MI, and Robert E. Carmany of Sandwich, NH; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Maye was raised on a rice farm. She was a championship cowgirl and won many rodeo prizes. Maye continued to show purebred horses into her thirties. She met her beloved husband, Boyd, during WWII , and they married in 1943. After the war they reunited in Mechanicsburg, where they were inseparable until Boyd’s death. Maye loved to read, play golf and watch her beloved, and sometimes hated, “Phillies” . She was a woman with a cheerful attitude whose cup was always “half full”.
Cremation was private and burial to reunite her with her late husband will take place at a later date.
