A Practical Man -

Mearl E. Hair, 74, of Mechanicsburg , died at Manor Care Health Services, Carlisle on Saturday, September 28, 2013.  He was born in Mechanicsburg on Wednesday, November 23, 1938, son of the late John Russell Hair and Mary (Stough) Hair.

Mearl’s survivors include sons, Russell C. Hair and his wife Kelly of Mechanicsburg, John T. Hair of Mechanicsburg; a sister, Gladys Shugart of Carlisle; his companion, Carol Brackbill of Mechanicsburg; and several nieces and nephews.  Among those preceding Mearl in death are his brothers, Lester Hair, Lloyd Hair, and Harold Hair.

Mearl graduated from Mechanicsburg High School as part of the class of 1957.  He was employed at Capitol Products in Mechanicsburg for over 30 years as a supervisor until its closing in 1991.  Mearl was later employed at Fry Communications for over 20 years as a forklift operator.  He was a lifelong member of The Mechanicsburg Club. He loved to hunt both big game, and small game with his pointers and beagles. He also enjoyed fishing in Alaska and the ocean. Mearl traveled to Europe on three separate occasions to visit his son, Russell. Mearl was a very practical man who had breakfast at the Colony House everyday and lunch at the The Mechanicsburg Club .

All are welcome to join Mearl’s family at his viewing on Thursday, October 3, 2013, from 1:00 until time of service at 2:00 at Myers–Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory , 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055, with Pastor Joseph L. Kugle officiating.  Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery in Churchtown.  Mearl’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at Hoss’s Steak and Sea House , 61 Gettysburg Pike, Mechanicsburg, following the burial.
