Melissa Ann (Oleski) Hathaway, 40, of Dillsburg , and formerly of Mechanicsburg , died peacefully at home and in the arms of her loving husband on Saturday, November 30, 2013, following a valiant eight month struggle with post surgery complications.
Melissa’s survivors include her devoted husband of six years, Charles Benjamin Hathaway and their precious son, Hunter; her parents, Jack and Shirley Oleski of New Cumberland; her parents-in-law, Derek C. and Margaret I. Hathaway of Mechanicsburg; her brother, John "JC" Oleski and his wife Melissa and her daughter Cedie of New Cumberland; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Among those preceding Melissa in death are her maternal grandparents, Albert and Estelle Richmond, and her paternal grandparents, John and Mary Oleski.
Melissa graduated from Mechanicsburg High School as part of the class of 1990 and from Shippensburg University . She was a devoted wife and mother and an enormously kind and generous person. Melissa was loved by all who met her and she was friendly with everyone. Outdoor life and nature brought her a great deal of joy. She was a wonderful cook and baker and loved living her life. Family, which included her dogs, was the most important part of Melissa’s life and they will forever love and miss her.
Friends are welcome to join Melissa’s family at her Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, December 5, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church , 310 Hertzler Drive, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055, with Reverend Msgr. William J. King celebrating. Melissa’s family invites friends to join them at her Celebration of Life Reception in the church social hall at 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. with a Time of Sharing at 12:15 p.m. Cremation was private and interment will be at the convenience of the family in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Mechanicsburg. Honored to be urn bearers are Charles and Hunter Hathaway.
