Meriam Leoria (Cumpson) Rodgers, age 81, of Mechanicsburg , died at home and surrounded by her loving family on Monday, August 25, 2014. Meriam was born on Monday, February 20, 1933 in Newport to the late Charles Irvin Cumpson and Tessie Viola (Fenicle) Cumpson. Meriam was the widow of Robert Carl Rodgers whom she married on April 1, 1956, and who died on September 24, 1992. In addition to her parents and husband, Meriam is preceded in death by her siblings: Raymond Meyers, Martha Viola Cumpson, John Irvin Cumpson, Pearl Irene Cumpson, and Ruth Elizabeth Cumpson.
Meriam’s survivors include her children: Charles Edward Rodgers and his wife, Thanom, and Deloris Marie Rodgers; her grandson, Michael Aaron Rodgers and his wife, Krystal Lynn, of Colorado Springs; her great-grandson, Michael Lucas Rodgers; and several nieces and nephews.
Meriam graduated from Newport High School as part of the class of 1951. She was a very meticulous and organized woman who knew when anything in her home was out of place. Meriam loved to paint and cook, and especially enjoyed helping her neighbors.
All are welcome to join Meriam’s family at her viewing on Friday, September 5, 2014, from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. at Myers - Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory , 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Reverend Tracy A. Conner officiating. Burial will follow in Mechanicsburg Cemetery in Mechanicsburg, PA.
