Merle “Jim” James Weber, Jr., age 78, of Enola, passed away at home while surrounded by his loving family on Monday, June 20, 2022.  Jim was born on Thursday, January 27, 1944, in Mechanicsburg to the late Mearl James Weber and Helen Mae (Moyer) Weber.  In addition to his parents, Jim is preceded in death by his daughter, Deborah Shuller and his two sisters, Lois Ann Mentzer and Patricia “Pat” Elicker.

Jim’s survivors include his wife of 50 years, Debra Ann (Baker) Weber; his two daughters: Tracy Pyle and her husband, Bradley, of Mechanicsburg; Wendy Masson and her husband, Andrew, of Enola; his nine grandchildren: Dylan Shuller, Devin Shuller, Maverick Robinson, Logan Pyle, Miller Masson, Landen Pyle, Shaw Masson, Drew Masson, Maryn Masson; and several nieces and nephews.

Jim was a graduate of Cumberland Valley High School, class of 1962.  He was an Army reserve veteran and long-time member of Mechanicsburg Sportsmen’s Association.  After 40 years of service, Jim retired as an electrician from IBEW Local 143.

Jim was meticulous about his yard.  He loved mowing, gardening, and tending to the koi fish in his ponds.  He cared for, and grew, the most beautiful flowers, especially his irises, which he shared with family and friends.  Jim also enjoyed birdwatching and feeding his birds.  He shared his love of nature, hunting and fishing with his grandsons.  He made sure to take each one hunting with just the two of them.  Additionally, Jim was a gifted woodworker and craftsman.  He lovingly made each of the grandchildren rocking horses from his own design.  Jim spent many of his younger years coaching softball and going to his daughter’s games.  He always told his girls to give “extra effort”, or “110 percent”, and that’s exactly how he lived his life.  In our family, when we think about cutting corners on anything, we always ask, “What would Pap do?”.  Though he was often a man of few words, it was very important to Jim that his family be taken care of. He will be greatly missed.

All are welcome to join Jim’s family at his gathering of friends and family with food and fellowship on Thursday, June 30, 2022, from 12:00 p.m. until time of remembrance at 1:30 p.m. all at Buhrig’s Gathering Place, 25 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055, (717) 766-3421 (next to Buhrig Funeral Home & Crematory); with Celebrant Patti Vogl officiating.  Over 100 parking spaces are available; just look for the “Buhrig” parking signs in all of the parking lots.  A graveside service and interment will be in St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery in Enola at the convenience of the family.  Cremation was private.

Contributions in celebration of Jim’s life can be made to Mechanicsburg Sportsmen’s Association, 493 Sample Bridge Road, Enola, PA 17025, www.msa-pa.org.
