Very Thoughtful and Generous -
Michael “Mike” Julius Sharbaugh, age 74, of Mechanicsburg, and formerly of Williamsport, passed away at Frey Village Retirement Center with his family by his side on Tuesday, June 28, 2016. Mike was born on Thursday, October 2, 1941 in Williamsport to the late William Sharbaugh and Mary (Caschera) Sharbaugh. Sharbaugh and his wife, Sally, and his daughter, Kate, of New Cumberland, Dawn Bennardi and her husband, Patrick, of Williamsport; and his three siblings: William “Bill” Sharbaugh, Carmella Preziosi, Mary Ann Munro; his dog, Max; and several nieces and nephews.
Mike graduated from Williamsport High School as part of the class of 1959 and from Lock Haven State Teacher’s College in 1963 with a bachelor’s degree in education. He retired from West Branch Manufacturer’s Association in Williamsport, after 20 years of service working as an executive director. Mike served in the United States Marine Corps as a captain during the Vietnam War. He was a decorated veteran who received the Air Medal 26 times and the Distinguished Flying Cross.
Mike liked caring for his wife and their dog, Max; he especially enjoyed taking him for walks. He had an everyday routine where he would visit Patsy’s grave (even doing this two times a day) and play the daily game at the Mechanicsburg Club. He loved having weekly dinners at Snapper’s Bar and Grill in Mechanicsburg with his family where he would enjoy a slice of the coconut cream pie; always requesting a window seat. Mike was a very loyal and giving man with a big heart. He was always thoughtful and generous; Mike was known for doing nice things for people and buying gifts for everyone.
