Michael Charles Slaughter, age 74, of Mechanicsburg, died on Saturday, March 8, 2025. Michael was born on Friday, March 24, 1950, in Portsmouth, VA to the late Ollie Slaughter and Virginia (West) Slaughter.
Michael’s survivors include his two daughters: Angelique Wilt-Luisi and husband Joe Luisi, April Slaughter and husband Patrick Downey; and his two step-children; Jessica Webb, and Christopher Webb. He leaves behind six grandchildren: Atlanta Wilt, Sydney Wilt, Vienna Luisi, Marcus Luisi, Miles and Mabel Slaughter-Downey; two great-grandchildren: Liam and Logan Slaughter-Downey; and one brother: Larry Slaughter and family.
Michael graduated from Mechanicsburg Area High School as part of the class of 1968 and attended Shippensburg University. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. Michael retired from the Navy Ships Parts Control Center in Mechanicsburg after over 20 years working in contracting. He had attended Wesley United Methodist Church and was a member of the Mechanicsburg Club, and American Legion Post 109 in Mechanicsburg. Michael was an avid reader of history books. He was a devoted fan of the Philadelphia Phillies, Philadelphia Eagles and Notre Dame football. Michael took great pleasure in traveling, particularly to California, Skyline Drive and especially Maine. Sunday breakfast or dinner and holidays with family was a treasured tradition for Michael.
All are welcome to join Michael’s family at his Celebration of Life Service on Thursday, April 10, 2025 from 5:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. at Grace United Methodist Church, 216 South Market Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Pastor W. Michael Langford and Reverend Dan Gilbert officiating.
Michael’s family invites everyone to join them for a dutch treat reception at Hoss’s Steak and Sea House, 61 Gettysburg Pike, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055 following the Celebration of Life Service.
