Michael “Mike” Curtis Plowman, age 62, of Dillsburg, and formerly of Santa Barbara, CA, passed away on Sunday, March 5, 2023.  Mike was born on Monday, October 17, 1960, in Altoona to Shirley Jean (Raneri) Plowman and the late Curtis Lee Plowman.

Michael was a graduate of the University of California, Santa Barbara with B.A. and Master of Economics degrees earned.  Michael worked professionally as a logistics and quality control manager with several California-based outdoor apparel companies.  He also launched and ran his own logistics firm.

Michael was a long-time Central Pennsylvania resident and enjoyed fishing along the Susquehanna River, Stoney Creek and the Yellow Breeches Creek.  Michael was a lifelong fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers who could always be found wearing team attire. He occasionally attended home games and spring training camp.  Michael was also creative and enjoyed many forms of writing.   He wrote the following passage several years ago:

'Silence is an unseen beauty

in all the forms she takes.

In the silent post-release,

we find our long-sought inner peace.

The heart's last truth now revealed:

Sacred things can never be cut,

only briefly separated.

We were always exactly the same,

pieces returning to only one'.

Mike’s survivors include his mother, Shirley Jean Plowman of Gettysburg; his sister, Beth Ann Plowman and her husband, Norbert Henninger, of Kennett Square; his niece, Justine Rose Henninger; his nephew, North Kelso Henninger; his aunt, Linda Wineland; and many friends he made along the way.

Mike’s family will be remembering his life privately.  Cremation was private.

The family sends their most heartfelt thanks to the cardiac unit medical team at Penn State Health Holy Spirit Medical Center who so lovingly cared for Mike during his illness.
