Michael “Moe” Aldo Mastromatteo
A Strong-Willed Man –
Michael “Moe” Aldo Mastromatteo, age 83, of Mechanicsburg, and formerly of State College, passed away on Saturday, July 10, 2021. Moe was born on Wednesday, February 16, 1938, in Hershey to the late Stephano Mastromatteo and Julia (Imbrognio) Mastromatteo. Moe was the widower of Deborah “Debbie” K. (Bartolet) Mastromatteo, whom he married in 1984, and who died on March 8, 2012. In addition to his parents and wife, Moe is preceded in death by his five siblings: Mary Larkin, Lola Schiavoni, James Mastromatteo, Lucy Gustin, and Anna Pogner.
Moe’s survivors include his sister, Josephine “Josie” Hupp of Hellam; and his many beloved nieces and nephews.
Moe graduated from Hershey Senior High School. He retired from the Pennsylvania State Police Academy in Hershey, after nearly 30 years of service working in maintenance. Moe was a devoted firefighter so when he moved to the area a few years ago, it was only natural that he became a member of the Mechanicsburg Fire Department. He also marched with the Hershey Chocolatiers and Baltimore Yankee Rebels. Moe was an avid bowler and had even made it to semi-pro. He was a strong-willed person who never once complained and always made good of his hardships - no matter what he was going through.
All are welcome to join Moe’s family at his viewing on Friday, July 16, 2021, from 3:30 p.m. until time of closing ceremony at 4:30 p.m. at Buhrig Funeral Home & Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055. Cremation will be private and at the convenience of the family.
