Mildred (Vogelsong) Shuttlesworth

Creatively “Fixed” Everything -

Mildred (Vogelsong) Shuttlesworth, 86, of Shickshinny , and formerly of Mechanicsburg , died at home on Saturday, September 22, 2012.  She was born in Mechanicsburg, on Sunday, August 8, 1926, daughter of the late Clarence Vogelsong and Elsie (Sheffer) Vogelsong.  Mildred was the widow of Donald “Boots” Arthur Shuttlesworth whom she married on September 4, 1965, and who died on June 5, 1988.

Mildred retired from Shenandoah Floral Products in the 1970s, after many years working as a Designer.  She was a member of The Order of the Eastern Star .  Mildred enjoyed attending car shows and the Shriner’s Parades.  She was independent and could creatively “fix” anything.  Mildred enjoyed many hobbies, including floral arranging, crocheting, cross-stitching and gardening, especially her bed of parsley.  She was a lover of cats and she always looked forward to the ritual of playing cards on Sunday.  Mildred was admired by her children and will be greatly missed.

Mildred’s survivors include her loving children, Robert Vogelsong and his wife Nina of Shermansdale, John McClintock and his wife CherylAnn of  Dillsburg, Sandy McClintock Westover and her husband Keith of Shickshinny; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; her sister, Doris Heller of Mechanicsburg; and several nieces and nephews.

All are welcome to join Mildred’s family at her gathering of family and friends on Thursday, September 27, 2012, from 10:00 until time of memorial service at 11:00 at Myers–Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory , 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055, with Pastor Kevin E. Dunlap officiating.  Mildred’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at Hoss’s Steak and Sea House , 61 Gettysburg Pike, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055, following the service.  Cremation was private.  Interment will be private and at the family’s convenience in Rolling Green Memorial Park in Camp Hill.  Honored to be urn bearers are: Keith Westover, Jr. and Bryan McClintock.

The family suggests memorial contributions to Columbia Montour Home Hospice , 410 Gleen Avenue, Suite 200, Bloomsburg, PA  17815.
