Miriam Wanner (Heffley) Wingert
A Woman of Deep Faith -
Miriam Wanner (Heffley) Wingert, age 84, of Mechanicsburg, and formerly of Hanover, was reunited with her beloved husband on Sunday, December 24, 2017. Miriam was born on Friday, August 25, 1933 in Lititz to the late Jacob J. Heffley and Virginia (Wanner) Heffley. Miriam was the widow of Clarence A. Wingert, Jr., whom she married on July 4, 1959, and who died on August 11, 2016. In addition to her parents and husband, Miriam is preceded in death by her three brothers: Abram W. Heffley, Paul W. Heffley, Luke W. Heffley; and her sister, Rhoda W. Heffley.
Miriam’s survivors include her three children: Kenneth Dale Wingert and his wife, Lisa, Donna Ruth Schultz and her husband, Paul, Joann Marie Wingert and her husband, Stuart Leask; her half-brother, Sam Hawbaker and his wife, Jan; her 11 grandchildren; her nine great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Miriam graduated from Chambersburg High School as part of the class of 1952 and from the School of Practical Nursing in 1955 as a licensed practical nurse (LPN). Miriam moved to Hanover in 1959 and promptly became a member of the Hanover Church of the Brethren where she was a very active member. She loved to sew and stayed busy as a seamstress through her life including her time at Hanover Palms Dry Cleaners. She was a member of the Hanover Community Singers, a Brownie Scout Leader, and a loving wife and mother. Miriam lived a full and blessed life surrounded by her family, church, and friends and she will be missed by all who knew her.
All are welcome to join Miriam’s family at her viewing on Thursday, December 28, 2017, from 2:30 p.m. until time of service at 3:30 p.m. at Myers - Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Miriam’s son-in-law, Reverend Paul E. Schultz, officiating. Miriam’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at the café next to Myers – Buhrig immediately following the service. All are welcome to join Miriam’s family at her graveside service and burial on Friday, December 29, 2017, beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Rest Haven Cemetery in Hanover. Honored to be pallbearers are: Benjamin Schultz, Nathan Wingert, Micah Schultz, Jacob Schultz, Joshua Bitler, Elijah Schultz, and Christian Wingert.
