Nancy Ann (Leaird) Facer, age 78, of Mechanicsburg , PA, and formerly of Williamson , NY, died with her loving family by her side on Thursday, June 26, 2014. Nancy was born on Monday, May 4, 1936 in North Rose, NY to the late George Leaird and Dorothy (Shaver) Leaird. Nancy was the widow of Donald Frederick Facer, whom she married on January 29, 1954, and who died on April 1, 2001. In addition to her parents and husband, Nancy is preceded in death by her brother, George William Leaird.
Nancy’s survivors include her loving daughters: Daisy (Facer) Reeves and her husband, Dan, of Mechanicsburg, Debby Black and her husband, Gary, of Utah; her eight grandchildren; her two great-grandchildren; and her two sisters: Betty Washburn of North Rose, NY, Shirley Laurette of Newark, NY; and several nieces and nephews.
Nancy graduated from Newark High School as part of the class of 1954. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Lewisberry. Nancy deeply cared about and for people, which made her a good friend to many. A good listener who enjoyed joking and flirting, she was easy to get to know. Nancy loved to bake cookies and make oodles of Easter candy that she gave away to almost everyone. The love Nancy felt for her grandchildren was immense and she shared a unique bond with her precious granddaughter, Ashley, with whom she shared a youthful heart and spirit. Misty, her cat, was another kindred spirit who accompanied Nancy on her the journey in this life.
All are welcome to join Nancy’s family at her Memorial Service on Monday, June 30, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. and her Gathering of Family and Friends at 3:00 p.m., both at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints , 216 Skyline Drive, Mechanicsburg, PA 17050. Burial will take place in Rose Cemetery in North Rose, NY on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at 2:00 p.m.
The family suggests memorial contributions, in honor of Nancy’s love for Don, to the Alzheimer’s Association of Greater Pennsylvania, 2595 Interstate Drive, Suite 100, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
