Nancy Louise (Houck) Hertzler
Very Family Oriented -
Nancy Louise (Houck) Hertzler, age 65, passed away at Holy Spirit Hospital on Wednesday, August 16, 2017. Nancy was born on Thursday, October 18, 1951 in Allentown to the late Albert Houck and Marion (Himler) Houck.
Nancy’s survivors include her loving husband of 45 years, Eugene “Gene” Allen Hertzler; her two sons: Brian Hertzler and his wife, Sarah, of Iron Station, NC; Gregory Hertzler and his partner, Karen Lowery, and his children, Savannah and Jacob; her three siblings: Thomas Houck and his wife, Debbie; Charlene Mahoney-Houck and her partner, Peter Black; Paul Houck and his wife, Juanita; and several nieces and nephews.
Nancy graduated from Carlisle High School as part of the class of 1970. She was an extremely family oriented woman who always thought of her family and their wellbeing. Memories of Nancy will surely include her loving, patient and understanding nature all while holding the title as “the serious one” in her family. As a wife, mother, and grandmother she was top notch. Her passions included cooking and baking and she was known for the special occasion cakes that she skillfully prepared for those who ordered them. Nancy was also the owner and craftsperson of “Lucky Bear” where she was known for so many crafts but especially for her tole painting which she did for over 20 years.
All are welcome to join Nancy’s family at her memorial service on Tuesday, August 22, 2017, beginning at 12:00 p.m. at Myers - Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Funeral Celebrant George A. Spangler officiating. Nancy’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of greeting of family and friends with food and fellowship at Stage & Studio Café immediately following the service. Interment in Mt. Holly Springs Cemetery will follow the reception. Cremation was private.
