Loving Wife, Mother, & Grandmother -

Nancy Jean (McNamara) Hood, age 71, of Platteville, WI, and formerly of New Jersey, passed away at her home on Monday, November 20, 2017.  Nancy was born on Saturday, January 19, 1946 in Ridgewood, NJ to the late James McNamara and Ann (Lawless) McNamara.  In addition to her parents, Nancy is preceded in death by her sister, Patricia McNamara.

Nancy’s greatest pride and joy in life was being a wife, mother, and grandmother.  Her survivors include her husband of 43 years, Joseph “Joe” Hood; her four children: Matthew Hood and his wife, Caryn, Fr. Jared Hood, Kristen Checcio and her husband, Robert, Carly Mahoney and her husband, Joseph; her six grandchildren; her three sisters; her two brothers; her sister-in-law; her two brothers-in-law; and several nieces and nephews.

All are welcome to join Nancy’s family at her visitation on Friday, November 24, 2017, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a rosary service beginning at 7:15 p.m. at Melby Funeral Home, 1245 North Water Street, Platteville, WI 53818 and on Saturday, November 25, 2017 for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 130 West Cedar Street, Platteville, WI 53818; with Bishop Morlino and Fr. Pedro Escibano celebrating.  Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Mechanicsburg on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at 10:00 a.m.
