Nancy Marlene (Johnson) Miller
Always Willing to Help Others -
Nancy Marlene (Johnson) Miller, age 83, of Mechanicsburg, and formerly of Duluth, Minnesota, slipped quietly through the veil on Saturday, October 24, 2020. Nancy was born on Friday, August 27, 1937, in Duluth, Minnesota to the late John Jacob Johnson and Ruth Hope (Crothers) Johnson. Nancy was the widow of Kenneth “Ken” Wesley Miller, whom she married on November 11, 1961, and who died on September 27, 2020. In addition to her parents and husband, Nancy is preceded in death by her infant granddaughter, Gracie Ellysa Miller; and her two sisters: Virginia Stevens and Lynn Taival.
Nancy’s survivors include her two children: Cynthia “Cindy” Ann Schmied and husband, Henry, of Mechanicsburg, Wesley “Wes” Kenneth Miller of Mechanicsburg; her three grandchildren: Cristeen A. Beck and husband William; Anissa N. Schmied and husband Timothy Jumper; Kenneth “Kenny” W. Miller; her two great-grandchildren: Dominic I. Beck and Avery C. Beck; her five siblings: John Johnson and wife, June, of Antioch, Tennessee; Karen Bartlett and husband, Ronald, Duluth, Minnesota; Cheryl Burbul and husband, Charles, of Iron River, Wisconsin; Susan Brusch and husband, Thomas, of Murrieta, California; Rebecca Bradburn of Winnepeg, Manitoba, Canada; and her several nieces and nephews.
Nancy graduated from Duluth Central High School as part of the class of 1955 and from Harrisburg Area Community College in 2001. She retired from the Navy Depot in Mechanicsburg, after many years of service working as a contract officer. Nancy was a longtime member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mechanicsburg. Nancy was known as an avid reader and a gardener, who loved to weed her garden. Because of her ability to talk about nearly anything, she made many friends over the years and kept in touch with everyone. Nancy was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed sewing dolls, clothing and crocheting afghans. She made many dolls over the years, including over 200 Raggedy Ann dolls that she gave away as gifts to newborn babies. Nancy was very passionate about politics and about her civic duty of voting. She will be very disappointed that her vote will not be counted in this election. Her family was what she cherished most and was brilliant at making the holidays, especially
Christmas, so special for her children and grandchildren.
